Yesterday’s council meeting was the first attended by new Councilman Tyler Bailey. He was sworn in on January 3, 2024.
During the presentation portion of the meeting, Mayor Daniel Rickenmann presented the Jamie Scott Fitness Proclamation and proclaimed January 23, 2024 as Jamie Scott Fitness Day. Mr. Jamie Scott started his small personal training and corporate wellness consulting business in 2008 and is celebrating 15 years of success in Columbia. Over the past 15 years, he has supported the local community through several philanthropic efforts including a new workout program to help individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. Jamie Scott will also be having a 5k charity run benefiting Sistercare that will be held on Saturday, March 23. Sistercare is a nonprofit organization that provides trauma-informed service, advocates for domestic violence victims and their children and promotes domestic violence prevention.
During the consent agenda portion of the meeting, City Council approved a new Professional Services Contract for a Downtown Small Business Popup Initiative, a partnership with Cola Love. Cola Love is an organization whose goal is to grow a more purposeful Columbia by bringing people together who want to build an ecosystem from a place of “L-O-V-E”.
