WHAT: Gelani Watson and Meisha Murray founded Talawa Carib Cuisine in June 2023. Talawa Carib Cuisine is a grocery store and deli that serves Jamaican cuisine. Gelani and Meisha are both originally from Portland, Jamaica and wanted to bring their culture and traditions to Columbia, SC as they seek to become part of Columbia’s small business community. Gelani and Meisha both have business backgrounds that started at a young age. They both have experience in business operations and management in the food service industry in Jamaica.
