By April 29, 2022No Comments

Join Dr. Tom Mullikin; Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann; West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles; Cayce Mayor Elise Partin; Camden Mayor Alfred Mae Drakeford; Dr. Susan Johnson, director of Health Promotion at MUSC; and Ethel Bunch, president and CEO, Sustain SC, as we announce and discuss the 3rd–annual South Carolina 7 (SC7) expedition from the mountains to the sea.

Like the previous two years, SC7 2022 expedition beginning on July 1st and ending on July 30th, will offer something for everyone. This year’s SC7 will present numerous additional opportunities for public engagement and participation. We’ll have all the details Monday, May 2, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.

ONE SUCH SPECIAL DAY will be Monday, July 18, 2022, in Columbia wherein the general public and business community is invited to join us to hike the Riverfront Park, a 2.5 mile trail running along the historic Columbia Canal. This is a beautiful section of the Palmetto Trail, South Carolina’s mountains to the sea statewide trail system.

“This year is going to be our best year and our best expedition ever,” says Dr. Tom Mullikin. “We will hike, raft, kayak, and SCUBA dive the same highways, byways, deeply forested wonderlands, and beautiful rivers across South Carolina that we do every year, but there will be so much more and many exciting new surprises.”

Mayor Daniel Rickenmann says: “As the Mayor of Columbia, I’m excited to welcome SC7 to our riverfront. Hiking our beautiful trails and taking in our riverfront is a great way to experience the natural beauty of the Midlands. We look forward to kicking off this leg of the journey!”

SC7 is a partnership between Global Eco Adventures and the S.C. National Heritage Corridor. The presenting sponsor for SC7 2022 is MUSC Health, and Sustain S.C. serves as the Midlands Sponsor.

Dr. Susan Johnson says: “Recognizing the connection between human health, wellbeing, and the natural environment, MUSC welcomes the opportunity to join forces with SC7 to promote green health and the importance of protecting the precious natural resources of our state.”

Ethel Bunch, president of Sustain SC says: “Sustain SC is excited to host the business community of the Midlands July 18, 2022, bringing our statewide vision to the local level, and celebrating the beauty of the outdoors and our historical riverfront that supports economic development in the city of Columbia.”
