(Columbia, SC) – The City of Columbia is pleased to honor Joseph S. Azar by holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Joseph. S. Azar Community Garden in T.S. Martin Park. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on November 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at T.S. Martin Park at 2700 Edison Street.
Joseph S. Azar, who passed away in 2019, was a Columbia area business owner, and long-time supporter of strengthening Columbia communities. The community garden will recognize Joseph S. Azar’s decades-long public commitment by bringing a location dedicated to neighborhood togetherness and shared beauty.
Attending will be Columbia City Councilmembers Edward H. McDowell, Jr. and Tyler D. Bailey, friends and family of Joseph of S. Azar, W.A. Perry Middle School representatives, community leaders and representatives.
