Who: Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, City Council members, Economic Development staff, MOA Korean BBQ owners and staff.
What: MOA Korean BBQ is celebrating the opening of their Columbia location with a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Monday, Sept. 25 at 3:30 PM. The event will take place at their new Columbia location at 1333 Main Street. This will be owner Sean Kim’s second restaurant in Columbia, his first being 929 Kitchen on Gervais Street. MOA brings traditional Korean cuisine to the Main Street District through a grill-at-your-table experience. Kim, a native of Korea, came to the United States in 1995 and received a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1999. After receiving his MBA in Kansas, he started running small businesses across the Southeast, which led him back to USC to participate in their culinary program because of his interest in food and the business behind it. In addition to 929 Kitchen, Kim also owns and operates MOA Charlotte.
Roy Seo, Executive Chef for MOA, brings 35 years of experience to the new Columbia restaurant. The New York City native has worked in front of top restaurants in downtown Seoul, Korea and Manhattan. His specialty is in Korean BBQ and Japanese cuisine. MOA Columbia will be his 9th restaurant in which he has developed the menu and kitchen.
