Columbia, S.C. – Mayor Daniel Rickenmann has been elected Second Vice President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), one of the nation’s most influential nonpartisan organizations representing cities and their leaders.

The election took place during the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 94th Annual Meeting in Long Beach, California, where more than 200 bipartisan mayors from across the country gathered to discuss national priorities and local solutions to issues affecting America’s cities.

As Second Vice President, Mayor Rickenmann will help guide the organization’s policy priorities and advocacy efforts on behalf of municipalities nationwide. The leadership role also elevates Columbia’s voice in national discussions on housing, public safety, economic development, infrastructure, and quality of life issues that impact communities across the country.

“Being elected Second Vice President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors is a profound honor and a responsibility that I do not accept lightly. I look forward to working alongside colleagues from across the country to advance practical, bipartisan solutions to strengthen our cities.” said Mayor Daniel Rickenmann. “From housing and public safety to infrastructure and economic opportunity, I remain committed to ensuring that Columbia’s voice is part of the national conversation as we work to improve quality of life for communities everywhere.”

The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. Through policy development, advocacy, and collaboration, the Conference works to advance the interests of cities and metropolitan areas across the United States.

During the annual meeting, mayors adopted policy resolutions addressing key issues including housing affordability, public safety, economic development, transportation, environmental sustainability, and support for local governments. These resolutions will guide the Conference’s advocacy efforts over the coming year.

Mayor Rickenmann has been an active member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and has worked alongside municipal leaders nationwide to share best practices and advocate for policies that benefit local communities.
