The City of Columbia has announced that the 45th Mayor’s Inauguration and Swearing-In Ceremony for newly elected City Council members will be held during an outdoor ceremony in the 1700 Block of Main Street.  The event will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 and will begin at 3 PM.

City leaders are excited to host this event in the heart of our city.  This location will utilize City Hall as a backdrop, which is symbolic of the hope and spirit of our city, while also highlighting the resilient spirit of our community.

Mayor-Elect Daniel Rickenmann stated, “We are open in the City of Columbia.  On January 4, our Swearing-In celebration will mark the start of a new day in the City of Columbia’s history.  We want this new day to be a positive experience for every citizen, every business and every community. We do not want anyone to have concerns over health or well being,  so we will hold the swearing-in outside on Main Street in order to welcome all who wish to attend.”

Mayor-Elect Daniel Rickenmann will be sworn in during the ceremony on January 4, along with Councilman-Elect Joe E. Taylor, Councilwoman-Elect Tina Herbert and Councilwoman-Elect Aditi Bussells.

The ceremony is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.  This occasion will mark a new beginning in Columbia, a city that is proud of the strength, ingenuity and diversity of our community, while also being positioned and open for new opportunities.
