In conjunction with the Go Red Movement, the City of Columbia has held multiple events to raise awareness of heart health and heart disease. This included the Go Red Columbia Community Press Event and Photo Op, the 2nd Annual Jump Start Your Heart Day Party, Heart Walk with the City Manager and T-Shirt Sale in Support of the Go Red Campaign.
Go Red Columbia Community Press Event and Photo Op
The City held the annual Go Red Columbia Community Press Event and Photo Op at City Hall on National Wear Red Day, Friday, February 7. The public was invited to participate to help and support women affected by heart disease, the number 1 killer of women.
The Go Red for Women movement encourages awareness of this issue and action to help save lives. Both men and women were encouraged to wear red the day of the event.

2nd Annual “Jump Start Your Heart” Day Party
The Public Relations, Media and Marketing Department held their 2nd Annual “Jump Start Your Heart” Day Party on Saturday, February 8 from 11:00a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Drew Wellness Center.
The “Jump Start Your Heart” Day Party featured a variety of free activities including health screenings, massages, giveaways, health related exhibitors, workouts and more.
The exhibitors were open for the entire duration of the event for individuals who wanted to drop in and get educational/health related information and materials.

“City Manger’s Go Red Heart Walk”
On Friday, March 14, City Manager Teresa Wilson held the “City Manger’s Go Red Heart Walk”. The walk began at City Hall and continued down Main Street ending at the State House. There were exhibitors at the State House including CPR demonstrations, activities and information related to heart health.
This year’s winning t-shirt design was also unveiled (see below). T-shirt orders closed on March 31, 2025. All proceeds from t-shirt sales go directly to the American Heart Association in their efforts to raise awareness of heart health in our community!
