New City Councilman Peter M. Brown was sworn in on April 3, 2023 at City Hall in Council Chambers. Rev. Monsignor Richard D. Harris, V.G. from St. Joseph Catholic Church opened the ceremony with the invocation. This was followed by the Presentation of the Colors by the City of Columbia Honor Guard and the National Anthem.
City Manager Teresa Wilson welcomed everyone to the ceremony. Brown was then sworn in by the Honorable Casey Manning, Retired Circuit Court Judge of South Carolina.
Councilman Peter M. Brown addressed the audience and delivered his first remarks as the new District IV representative. Mayor Daniel Rickenmann gave remarks and welcomed Councilman Brown to the City.
Rev. Monsignor Richard D. Harris, V.G. gave the benediction.
Columbia City Councilmembers as well as Richland County Councilmembers were present at the ceremony. Brown’s family was also in attendance along with business and community leaders.
Councilman Peter Brown’s first City Council meeting will be today at 4p.m. at City Hall in Council Chambers.
