City of Columbia Solid Waste Adding New Leaf Collection Alternatives

By November 10, 2022November 21st, 2022No Comments

The City of Columbia Solid Waste Division will be adding a new leaf collection option this fall for residents to drop their bagged leaves at designated drop-off locations throughout the City. This newly added service will assist keeping Columbia beautiful and neighborhoods tidy.

Solid Waste refers to this time of year as “leaf season” because all of the leaves are falling and the Division prepares to collect higher than average volume of material. The City invested in a new roll-off truck with an array of containers to add alternative collection services.

Solid Waste will be deploying these containers throughout the City for residents to drop off bagged leaves only and moving them to new locations weekly. Residents are encouraged to use these locations, but can still use regular curbside service.

Notices for the container locations will be disseminated via press release, social media posts, website posts, and notifications in the Columbia, SC Solid Waste mobile app.

The free Columbia, SC Solid Waste app can be found on Apple and Android app stores. There is also a collection calendar and other sign-up options online at https://publicworks.columbiasc.gov/waste-wizard/.
