City of Columbia recognized as “Tree City” for 43rd Year

By March 22, 2022No Comments

The City of Columbia has earned the designation Tree City USA for 43 years by upholding the Arbor Day Foundation’s requirements.

To earn this designation Columbia maintains a thriving forestry division, has a community tree ordinance, spends $2 per capita on urban forestry each year, and celebrates Arbor Day.

The City of Columbia’s Forestry and Beautification division works to keep Columbia beautiful and vibrant by planting and maintaining trees in the city. Community members can find more information and resources on tree planting and beautification projects on the Forestry and Beautification page of the city’s website.
