The City of Columbia Community Development Department celebrated fifty years of service and Community Development Week with various activities from Monday, April 21, 2025 – Friday, April 25, 2025.

Event Schedule:

Monday, April 21, 2025
Location: Brunch at Segra Park Club Lounge, 3rd floor, 1640 Freed Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
The CD Brunch was held for partnering agencies, banks, and neighborhood leaders. The brunch featured Mayor Rickenmann, City Council, and City of Columbia leadership.

Tuesday, April 22, 2025
Location: Day of Service with Richland County at Harvest Hope, 2220 Shop Rd, Columbia, SC 29201
Time: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Community Development, along with Richland County Community Development, hosted a Day of Service at Harvest Hope.

Location: CD Neighborhood Tour with City Council
Tour sites:
• Eau Claire Health Clinic
• Lorick Place
• Toasty Hot Spot
• Village at Congaree Pointe
• Edisto Place
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Community Development hosted a neighborhood tour at federally funded sites administered by the department for Mayor Rickenmann, City Council, City of Columbia leadership, and Richland County officials.

Digital & Social Media Engagement Highlight CD 50th
Community Development celebrated its 50th anniversary with a social media engagement day, using the hashtag #CD50th.

Friday, April 25, 2025
Location: CD Block Party, 2300 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Community Development invited the public to the CD Block Party. The celebration featured informational booths provided by City of Columbia departments and local food vendors through the Office of Business Opportunities’ Food Truck Friday event.
