The City of Columbia Public Relations, Media and Marketing Department announces Summer of Service from July 1, 2024 through October 5, 2024.
Summer of Service will highlight fundraising and registration efforts for the upcoming 2024 Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence. These services will include the second annual toiletry drive and the second annual Sistercare Saturdays.
Mayor Rickenmann Kicks-Off the Second “Sistercare Saturdays” Event on Saturday, August 24 at Soda City Market
Who: Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, At-Large City Councilwoman Dr. Aditi Bussells, At-Large City Councilman Tyler D. Bailey, Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor Byron E. Gipson, Assistant Columbia-Richland Fire Chief Mickey Folsom, Sistercare, Columbia Police Department, Richland County Sherriff’s Department, local celebrities & entrepreneurs and the City of Columbia Public Relations, Media & Marketing Department.
What: The City of Columbia’s Public Relations, Media and Marketing Department is hosting the second of three fundraising events for Sistercare, which helps victims and families recover from domestic violence. Join us in downtown Columbia during the Soda City market to raise funds and bring awareness to this violence. We will have a dunking booth and raffle drawings featuring local Columbia businesses. There will also be information booths from Sistercare, our local public safety partners and the City of Columbia.
Tickets for the dunk booth are $5 for three throws, $10 for seven throws and $30 for an instant dunk.
Tickets for the raffle prices are $5 for one ticket, $10 for three tickets and $20 for seven tickets. The businesses offering raffles prizes on July 27 include:

2024 Sistercare Saturdays (Saturdays August 24 and September 7) | 10 AM – 1 PM
Join us in downtown Columbia during the Soda City market to raise funds and bring awareness to this violence. We will have a dunking booth on both Saturdays, in which you can pay to dunk Mayor Rickenmann, as well as others throughout both events. There will also be multiple raffle drawings each Saturday, featuring supporting organizations/businesses, who have partnered with us to raise funds for Sistercare. In addition, there will be yard games for the whole family to enjoy and information booths from Sistercare, our local public safety partners and the City of Columbia.
Current price: The dunk tank tickets are $5 for three (3) throws, $10 for seven (7) throws and $30 for instant dunk.
Chief Holbrook Kicked-Off “Sistercare Saturdays” at Soda City Market
On Saturday, July 27, City of Columbia’s Public Relations, Media and Marketing Department hosted the first of three fundraising events for Sistercare, which helps victims and families recover from domestic violence. Citizens joined the City’s Public Relations, Media and Marketing Department during the Soda City market to raise funds and bring awareness to this violence. There was a dunking booth, raffle drawings featuring local Columbia businesses .There were also information booths from Sistercare, local public safety partners and the City of Columbia. Local celebrities that participated in the dunk tank included Columbia Police Chief William “Skip” Holbrook, Director of Violent Crime Prevention Trevon Fordham, Public Fire Education Officer Ariel Thomas, Columbia Police Department Sergeant Allen Brinson Jr., along with Sistercare, Columbia Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the City of Columbia Public Relations, Media & Marketing Department.
