City Announces Exciting Updates Regarding the 2024 Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence, including Dunk Tank Fundraiser

The 2024 Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Page Ellington Park, 2220 Gregg St, Columbia, SC 29201.

The event will now feature WLTX Anchor Andrea Mock as emcee, and a dunk tank fundraiser with Mayor Daniel Rickenmann. Additionally, radio station The Big DM will be broadcasting live from the walk!

The dunk tank fundraiser featuring Mayor Daniel Rickenmann and other local celebrities will be from 8:30 am-9:30 am. Tickets for the dunk booth will be $5 for three throws, $10 for seven throws and $30 for an instant dunk. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards Sistercare. Come out early to dunk the Mayor!

Due to the dunk tank event, the purple rally will now begin at 10:00 am and the walk will begin at 11:00 am.

Participants are also asked to bring toiletry items to donate to Sistercare. Please consider donating the items below:

  1. Facial wipes
  2. Deodorant
  3. Liquid hand soap
  4. Face cloths/towels
  5. Masks
  6. Feminine hygiene products
  7. Body wash
  8. Diapers

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and for the 18th year, participants are asked to show their support by joining the city walk to bring awareness of the abuse and violence that is occurring in our community.
