Who: The City of Columbia and the Mayor’s Campaign Against Breast Cancer Committee

 What: For over 20 years, the Mayor’s Campaign Against Breast Cancer has been proud to partner with this community to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. This year, our goal is to raise $25,000, and we invite you to join us in making a meaningful difference.

The City of Columbia will host the 2026 Isabel Law Breakfast on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Boyd Plaza, 1515 Main Street. Tickets can be purchased for $15 at City Hall (1737 Main Street), Columbia Police Headquarters (1 Justice Square), Columbia Payment Center (3000 Harden Street), and at the event. The breakfast includes grits, pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, beverages, small bites, and, of course, great company!

Along with the breakfast, attendees will enjoy:

  • Special visit from University of South Carolina’s Cocky
  • Music by DJ Show Nuff
  • Blind Auction offering local goods and services

All proceeds will help fund a new Prisma Health Mobile Mammography Van, fully equipped with a 3-D mammography unit.

What: The City of Columbia is proud to announce that registration is now open for the 20th Annual Mayor’s Walk and Run Against Domestic Violence, taking place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, starting at 8 a.m. at Finlay Park.

This year marks two decades of the Mayor’s Campaign Against Domestic Violence, an annual effort to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors and connect the community with resources. The 2026 campaign benefits SisterCare, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence and their children.

For the first time, the event will feature both the community’s longstanding awareness walk and a new 5K run, giving participants additional opportunities to show their support and help raise awareness for this important cause.

Dominion Energy will begin performing tree trimming activities along overhead utility lines in the following neighborhoods on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Distribution Line Tree Trimming:

  • Central Rosewood Neighborhood
  • South Kilbourne Neighborhood
  • Chestnut Hill Plantation
  • Riverfront Park Area
  • Granby Hill
  • Olympia
  • Northwood Hills
  • Eau Claire Community Council
  • Seminary Ridge Neighborhood
  • Windemere Springs Neighborhood
  • Ridgewood / Monticello
  • Hyatt Park Keenan Terrace
  • Colonial Park Neighborhood

Citizens with specific questions or concerns should contact Forestry & Beautification at 803-545-3860 or Dominion Energy at 1-800-562-9308 to meet and discuss in advance of the work being completed.

Customers can also access Dominion Energy’s new website to follow the tree trimmers in real time at https://treetrimming.dominionenergyse.com/

The trimming will be completed by Dominion Energy’s contractors and work will be closely monitored by the City’s Certified Arborists from the Forestry & Beautification Division.

The purpose of the trimming activities is to increase safety and reliability of the electric service. The trimming guidelines include removing vegetation within 8-12 feet below, beside the power lines and up to 20 feet above the power lines.

Dominion Energy and their contractors trim in accordance with International Society of Arboriculture guidelines, using ANSI A300 pruning methods leaving good cuts that will generate new growth.

Dominion Energy’s re-conductor work includes pole replacements and new wire in select locations. The goal of re-conductor work is to improve reliability.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The City of Columbia Procurement Department is transitioning from the old e-procurement platform, Ion Wave, to a new platform, CobbleStone. After finding out that our current e-procurement platform will no longer be supported, the city has conducted various research, to select a system that aligns with its long term operational efficiency goals while bettering accessibility for the local business community. The new platform is scheduled to go live in October 2026. The new CobbleStone platform allows for a centralized hub meant to streamline the vendor experience through personalized dashboards, simplified paperless proposal submissions, and streamlined credential management. 

The Procurement Department is encouraging both current city vendors and prospective business owners interested in contracting with the City to prepare for the October 2026 launch. Existing business partners are invited to set up their free profiles immediately by visiting https://columbiasc.cobblestone.software/gateway/ to ensure access to upcoming bidding opportunities. 

For new business owners interested in partnering with the City of Columbia be sure to first secure an active city business license before registering their profiles on the new gateway.
