The City of Columbia’s Parks and Recreation Department will temporarily close a portion of the Saluda Riverwalk trail system Thursday, October 15, 2026 through Friday, October 16, 2026 to accommodate sewer infrastructure work.
The closure will affect the downstream, eastern portion of the trail between the Millrace Boardwalk and Boyd Island. The upstream portion of the Riverwalk will remain open for visitors to enjoy during the temporary closure.
Columbia Water is upgrading sewer infrastructure in the area. Work scheduled for Thursday will involve excavating and reworking a section of the existing sewer line. Visitors may have already noticed temporary bypass lines along the trail.
The affected section is expected to reopen Friday, October 16, 2026. Paving work on a portion of the walkway will be completed at a later date.
The Saluda Riverwalk is located at 650 Candi Lane in Columbia. For more information, contact the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department.
