Columbia, SC – September 14, 2026 – One Columbia Arts and Culture is opening its doors this Hispanic Heritage Month for “Puentes del Arte,” a free community Open House celebrating the richness of Hispanic culture through art, music, and food. The event takes place Thursday, October 1, from 6-8 PM at 801 Wildwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29203.
“Puentes del Arte” means “Bridges of Art,” and that’s exactly the spirit One Columbia hopes to capture: connection, celebration, and community, all built around creativity. Guests can look forward to an evening full of color and rhythm, with live music from David Rodriguez and The Latin Hustle setting the tone for the night.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to view art through a collaboration with Palmetto Luna Arts, a local organization dedicated to promoting Latino arts and culture in the Midlands. And no celebration is complete without great food. Takosushi will be on-site serving up its signature flavors, adding one more layer of cultural connection to the evening.
“Last year, we hosted our first open house at the Keenan House, and it was a tremendous success. Our goal was simple: to create a welcoming space for community and connection while reintroducing people to One Columbia,” said Xavier Blake, Executive Director of One Columbia Arts and Culture. “As we began planning this year’s event, we asked ourselves how we could be even more intentional. Our board had the wonderful idea of celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in partnership with Limitless Community Development and from that vision, Puentes del Arte was born. This year’s open house will serve as a special kickoff to Carnaval del Barrio, taking place Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Finlay Park. Carnaval del Barrio is another incredible event celebrating the Hispanic cultures, creativity, and community that enrich our city. We look forward to celebrating with you in October!”
