The City of Columbia Public Relations Department is inviting local businesses, organizations and community partners to become sponsors of the 20th Annual Mayor’s Walk & Run Against Domestic Violence, benefiting Sistercare, the Midlands’ leading organization supporting survivors of domestic violence and their children.

Celebrating its 20th year, this milestone event will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Finlay Park, 930 Laurel Street. In recognition of the anniversary, this year’s event has expanded to include both the community’s longstanding awareness walk and a new 5K Run, bringing together residents, businesses and advocates in the fight against domestic violence.

The annual event raises awareness about domestic violence while generating critical funding for Sistercare’s programs and services, including emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling and resources that empower survivors as they rebuild their lives.

“For 20 years, our community has come together to stand with survivors of domestic violence and support the life-changing work of Sistercare. The continued success of this campaign is made possible through the generosity and partnership of our local businesses, organizations, and community supporters. Their financial support helps ensure that Sistercare can continue providing critical services, safe shelter, and hope to those who need it most. As we celebrate this milestone year, I encourage our business community to join us as sponsors and invest in a safer, stronger Columbia for everyone.” Mayor Daniel Rickenmann

Businesses and organizations of all sizes are encouraged to participate through one of four sponsorship levels:

  • Champion Sponsor – $500
  • Advocate Sponsor – $200
  • Community Supporter – $100
  • Proud Supporter – $50

Sponsorship benefits include logo and brand recognition, social media promotion, event recognition and complimentary admission tickets to the community walk, depending on sponsorship level. Please note that walk tickets included with sponsorships do not include registration for the 5K Run.

All sponsorship proceeds directly benefit Sistercare and its mission of providing life-saving services and support to survivors of domestic violence throughout the Midlands.

Businesses interested in becoming a sponsor can complete the official sponsorship form or contact the City of Columbia Public Relations Department for additional information. Sponsorship opportunities are available while event materials are being finalized, and early commitments are encouraged to maximize recognition opportunities.
