(Columbia, SC) The City of Columbia has posted a new online submission form for local artists to submit proposals to receive and paint/decorate large fiberglass turtle sculptures, as part of the continuing Columbia Streams Art public art program. The Columbia Streams Art public art program staff will review all submissions and select 10 local artists to express their own creative style by painting or embellishing the 15″H x 35″L x 18″W turtle sculptures, which will then be placed for public view at locations along our Saluda Riverwalk pathways.
Columbia area artists can visit https://mayor.columbiasc.gov/turtle-submission/ to submit their proposals for consideration. A stipend will be provided to the selected artists.
Officially launched in October 2023, Columbia Streams Art is a multi-faceted public arts program that has engaged Columbia’s creative community to celebrate Columbia’s unique access to our rivers, and brings beauty and new artistic expressions to our shared public spaces.
