Mayor's Mentoring Network

The Mayor's Mentoring Network connects Columbia mentoring organizations with interested potential mentors to encourage mentorship and promote mentoring best practices.

What's expected of a mentor/tutor?

By volunteering as a mentor/tutor, you are simply promising to be a responsible and reliable adult who is a friend and someone that your mentee can look up to. It's important that you develop a bond and a relationship that include taking part in various activities that interest both parties.

These activities can be as simple as:

  • Shooting hoops

  • Taking a trip to the library

  • Sharing a pizza

  • Coaching a team

  • Taking a walk in a city park

  • Acting as a career mentor to someone interested in your field

How Can You Get Involved

It's simple. Fill out this form, and we'll quickly respond with more information about ways in which you can start mentoring in the city. Please note the form is only for potential mentors, not mentees (children or young adults). Based on your interest area, you'll then be given several recommendations on mentoring or tutoring programs. After that, you will need to contact that agency and set up a time for an interview.
